Tool: Online Pond Calculator Formula
Many ask how we go about calculating the overall
gallons in any particular pond that we are contracted to install, or
more often when someone is looking to purchase a Do-It-Yourself Premier
Kit from our Retail Showplace.
Using the calculator below, simply enter in the
measurements of your pond in the following format:
Length x Width
x Average Depth x 7.48
For example, say you want to have an 11' x 16'
pond installed at a standard 2' depth.
Your formula would be: 11 x 16
x 2 x 7.48 = 2633 gallons
Our experience in the industry has taught us
that you must absolutely turn-over your total water gallons ONCE EVERY
HOUR to maintain water quality on smaller water gardens. If you have, or plan to have a
fish load in your pond, your more ideal target is going to be 1-1/2 - 2
times per hour to maintain beautiful water quality. In the case of
the 11' x 16' pond example that we used, we would recommend a 3000gph
pump at a minimum, with a 4000gph or 4500gph the more ideal solution.
Larger ponds are safe in the once every two hours range.
Length x Width
x Average Depth x 7.48
